Thanksgiving is coming here at the French Knot

Holidays are upon us once more and that means we’re busy knitting, crocheting and needlepointing our fingers off getting those gifts finished.  Once the holidays are over, we decided to put our feet up, rest and in the company of good friends and family, do a January Knit a long.  Meg chose Emiliana.  This shawl and it’s technique is very popular and nearly 600 people have knit this beautiful shawl in just 1 year!  Mosiac knitting  has been popular and, what’s awesome about this project is  the color combinations are endless.  Only 2 colors!!  A light and a Dark, or a Light and a Variegated. Whatever you choose, this project will be great to knit and beautiful to wear. We have lots of choices in fingering weight for you to work with.  Here is a photo of one in progress.  Inspirational Project Photos on Ravelry to help you with your color choices.20161115_090000 We will start Tuesday January 3rd.  Don’t let another year go by without learning how to make something beautiful.

Don’t forget our  Felted Bag KAL coming up December 6th.  If you purchase the yarn here the pattern is free.

Alexa Designs Trunk show has been going strong  but there are still some great stockings, Cuff toppers plus some  Standups and Ornaments. Stop in to see what we have before it’s gone at the end of the month.dscf7274dscf7272

A Soggy Update

Just a few things…

Voodoo Doll…
First up… previous emails have listed the Voodoo Doll Class/Stitch-a-long price incorrectly. The price is $140 and includes canvas and threads.

ANG Seminar
We are going to New Orleans in a few weeks for the ANG 2016 Seminar (Aug 26-Sept 2). We will be the shop for the seminar. The shop and exhibits are open to the public, so you should come visit while we are there. Although we are taking all the needlepoint with us, the yarn will be staying home. While Meg is away in Nola, Michelle just might put some yarn on sale…

A Tip!
What do you do when you don’t have waste yarn handy to put your stitches on…? Very clever of you, Robin.

A Finished Object
Another sweater from the workshop is finished! Way to go, Ramona!

Christmas Projects KAL

Our Mittens are winding down, so we will be starting the Slip Stitch Dish Towel next Tuesday, August 16. It’s really not very difficult, but it is super cute.

A Clever Title Eludes Me.

Last week I told you we were going to the ANG 2016 Seminar in New Orleans. We will be there from August 26 – September 2. While we are in NOLA, there will be needlepoint in Diamondhead since we are taking it all with us. Of course, the yarn will  be just as it always is. Come see us while we are there. The exhibits and shop are open to the public.

Upcoming Needlepoint Classes

We are planning a few needlepoint classes. How about a bracelet? Won’t that be fun? Mark your calendar for September 23 for the bracelet class. We have a selection of bracelets coming from Cheryl Schaeffer and Annie Lee Designs for the class, but you can see the designs here on their website.  Cost for this class is TBD.

On October 28, we will be doing a Voodoo Doll. We’ve done this one before, but it’s been awhile. The class is already almost full, so let us know if you want to join in. Cost for this class is $140 and includes everything.

UFO support group…

Let’s start a UFO (unfinished objects) support group.  It will be a judgement free zone. Dig deep and pull out those UFOs buried deep in the closet. We can help each other figure out where we stopped in the pattern all those months (or maybe years) ago. We will celebrate each other when we finish that UFO. And then, of course, we will inspire each other when it’s time to start a new one. Come by anytime for a session. Some days, it may be a private session. Some days it may be a group session. That’s one of the great things about The French Knot, you just never know who will be sitting around the table.

Here are some FOs to celebrate.

A few needlepoint FOs.

Two sweaters finished from the Sweater Workshop! Lovely job, Carole and Judy!

Things You Need to Know

August is almost here and we have more summer to endure, but folks are starting to think about their Christmas knitting.  We have a plan to help.  Our Christmas Projects KALs have begun, but you can join anytime.  So far we have several folks working on the mittens. Here are a few. You can come sit with us, too.

We will start the Slip Stitch Dish Towel on August 16.

Have you heard???

The American Needlepoint Guild is coming to New Orleans August 28 – September 2 and they have invited us to be the shop for the attendees. The exhibits and the shop are open to the public, so come see us and the amazing exhibits.

Shortly after this huge event, Meg will be going to Market in Dallas. She wants to hear from you as to what she should be looking out for. The possibilities are endless, so share your preferences.

Also, don’t forget that the Christmas finishing deadlines are coming up. We need to have your items by August 20 so we can ship them off before the deadline. I better get busy on that stocking!

Avra’s Tooth Fairy Pillow

It’s hot outside! Let’s talk about Christmas.

You might like to know that Christmas is 24 weeks away. No need to worry though, we have you covered with a sale and a bunch of KALs.

We are putting needlepoint canvases on sale for two days this month. July 15 & 16 tons of canvases will be half price. In fact, almost all in stock canvases will be 50% off. That’s an amazing deal.  Canvases like these…

Don’t worry, knitters. We have you covered as well. How about a series of Knit-A-Longs to get a pile of knitted gifts ready to give away this Christmas? For the next five months, we will start one project each month. Let’s start on July 19 with a set of mittens. It’s super fun to knit along with friends and we will give you all the help you need. All we ask is that you buy your supplies from us.

We will meet every two weeks five times from March 5 through April 30 and each session is two hours and costs $20.  Sessions are March 5, 19, April 2, 16 and 30 from 10-noon.

Finished Objects!

It’s November. What are you grateful for?

I’m grateful for all the amazingly cute canvases in the Burnett & Bradley Trunk Show.  Seriously, y’all, these canvases are so crazy cute.  And there is truly something for everyone.  Most are small enough to finish quickly, though there are some stockings that will take your breath away.  Come get yours. You won’t regret it.

I’m also grateful for inspiring finished objects.

I’m also grateful for great deals.  In this case, books!  We have deeply discounted tons of pattern books which means you can buy a whole book of patterns for less than the cost of a single pattern.  Come look through them.  You will likely leave with several.

Books, books, books.
